Madeline Harbour faces off against the first real danger of her detective career... for the second time?
Since this part completes the chapter, the remastered chapter 2 will take the place of the original one. The first version of To Become a Heroine will move to the One-Shots category.

Jimmy Jarvis!
So the chapter didn't drop by the 'middle of March' like I said in the previous post. I felt disappointed with the fact that I came up short of my deadline again before realizing that I took the first week of March off from Heroine Rises in order to work on other artistic obligations. So sorry to the one fan who got their chapter a week later but if I didn't take that week 'off' - I would have managed to get it out on time. Maybe that's something to actually be proud of ... or maybe I'm just looking to excuse my failure to uphold promises again. Either way, I guess my struggles parallel with Julian's! (Read the chapter to find out just what I mean.)
In terms of the actual chapter, we see two new characters in Jimmy Jarvis and a certain commander. At this point, I've drawn Madeline so many times that I can draw her with my eyes closed. Needless to say, I needed a slight breather from the constant Julian/Madeline/Julian/Madeline panels and that's where I found a renewed joy for my characters! Almost like a second wind, redrawing Jimmy some two years later really made me happy in a way I can't describe. Jimmy isn't what I would have called a 'fun' character for me to draw - but I really went wild in terms of crosshatching for him - which made me reconsider a few things artistically (I'll discuss that in a future post) and made me look forward to the next chapter Sassy Steel where we get to redraw a 'fun' character in the sassy and bold Juliette Sandover. This keyboard can't express my excitement! All in all, I'm really proud of this chapter and I hope the next one continues to build on what I've been learning and working on. I hope you enjoy my work and continue to watch this space for more Rises developments!
Speaking of developments...
Bite-Sized Bits
I've tinkered with the Reader's code and you should see a button near the bottom of a page that says 'Change View'. This will prompt the Reader to load in all the images for the chapter to allow for a scrollable experience. I'm considering making this the default view but that depends on optimization and a few other hurdles.
I've added a few more images to the Gallery! A very early character concept for a woman named Ixchel - hopefully I can incorporate her into a story soon. (If she's lucky she'll end up in Limbo along with Darcia Martinez. Madeline just cannibalizes all my time!)
Also added to the gallery are a few Clarissa images I cooked up. One is a portrait attempt and another is an illustrative piece that matches closely with the Heroine Rises style. (P.S: I can't wait to show what I have in store for the Chapter 4 remaster! It'll be good, I promise.)
Looking forward, I'll take a week long 'break' from Heroine Rises (which means I won't draw panels but I'll be writing and storyboarding.)
