Heroine Rises

'The First Case' Remaster

August 09 2021

Madeline heads to the Palisades neighborhood to meet up with Ada Lima-Silva, the woman who had her heirloom Ruby Ring stolen.

The remastered version of Chapter 5: The First Case is now available to read on the Heroine Rises reader. Click here to start reading!

As always, the original version of the chapter will be moved to the One-Shots section.

Excitable... but Nice

That's Ada Asier de Santos Lima-Silva for you. Just like her name, she has a tendency to go on and on and on. Her love for socializing makes her a terrible choice to keep a secret, but a wonderful one for learning them. If she were the culprit, she'd tell you before you accused her. Ada's meeting with Madeline tends to go wherever Ada takes it - can Madeline rein in the mile-a-minute woman and get her to reveal all she knows about the Ring case?

In just over a month, I managed to get all but the colors for the cover page done. I think that's a good time considering the quality I strive to deliver. Whether that's due to the chapter being shorter than any of the previous four or to the fact that this project was more of a redraw than a rework remains to be seen. I hope this is a pace I can build on and it seems like it takes roughly a month to release these things. I think there might still be room for improvement. I take too long on the pencils and the final pass. Some things can probably be automated and optimized. I still get distracted too easily. We'll continue to improve but I'm proud of where I am and how much I've improved from the 'six-month' chapter.

The Next Chapter

All of these remasters/redraws have been leading up to something more than just a better Heroine Rises experience. When I finish redrawing Chapter 7, I'll finally have the content I need in order to get Volume 1 of Heroine Rises printed! Volume 1 will be titled Dreams of Heroism and will cover Chapters 1-10/11. It'll be printed and it'll be lovely! This is something I tried to get out last year but getting used to working digitally (plus the whole pandemic) took much longer than I anticipated.

This year we are on course to release it before 2021 ends. The printing won't take up time from the other chapters but as school starts up again, the whole 'chapter a month' thing might not be feasible. It all depends on factors I can't predict yet.

Rough calendar for the remainder of the year:

August - HR 07 Remaster: Ada, Robert, and the Ring

September-October - HR 08 Remaster: The Daughter of the NSPD

October - November - HR 12: The Issue with Mothers Part 2

November - December - HR 13

Until we meet again sometime next month!
