Welcome to a new era of Heroine Rises!
Today we look at the first few pages of the new fully digital Heroine Rises! I'll discuss what this chapter took to make, what I've learned, and the future of Heroine Rises beyond this small snippet. I'll also cast off Harbour for good by dropping the link for the incomplete draft of Book 2.
Heroine Rises Revised and Recharged
The first part of the long promised 'Small Time Detective' is finally here!

This chapter still needs 2 more parts before I fully complete it. I have a tentative release date of October 14th for Part 2. Part 3 will hopefully be out in another month beyond that. From there, I'll have to rework Chapter 2: To Become a Heroine to better fit with the original script. You'll see what I mean.
More Ambitious A Script
I mentioned that this remaster has two purposes. One of those was to see how far my art has advanced from the first Heroine Rises Chapter. The second reason was to see if I could actually bring my original vision for Chapter 1 to life. My original script included a cut sequence that involves Damien, Madeline, and Julian. This was cut because I felt that I could not do it justice with my (very bad) anatomy drawing skills. As a result, we got a very bare bones script that I feel didn't quite get Heroine Rises off on the best note.
The reduced script I used for the first Chapter 1 has lots of the same elements. We still start with that strange confrontation - still have a shot of a map of Northern Serenity - and still have Madeline's confidence crumple in the face of a (angry) Maxine Rubin. However, it deviates from here. The original script actually bleeds into what I turned into Chapter 2. Madeline and Julian's conversation at the Vista Del Rio will be fleshed out further and will be the conclusion of Chapter 1.
But won't that makes Chapter 2 very short? Yes. That's why I mentioned reworking Chapter 2. The confrontation with Jimmy Jarvis is meant to be a bit longer - and the conversation between Madeline and Julian afterwards will be expanded. We'll also get some more context on Juliette, Clarissa, and a certain missing father.
From there, I'd like to remaster the next three chapters and add in some details I missed but that's not really a priority right now. Chapter 5 may receive a remaster first since it is in desperate need of a re-letter.
Heroine Rises: The Issue with Mothers
I want to start up this project again and get a new chapter of Heroine Rises out soon. I expect that I'll need two more parts for this chapter to be complete. The script is all done and storyboards are finished so once the Chapter 1 Remaster is done, barring anything new coming up, I'll shift gears and work on the rest of this chapter finally seeing the light.
Harbour: The Heroic Villainess
In last week's post, I gave the link to the draft of what was meant to be Harbour Book one - Harbour: The Ring of Deceit. This week, I'll finally bid adieu to this project and close it off in this 'Creative Archive'. Book One of Harbour followed Madeline's adventure in finding Ada Lima's missing Ruby Ring. In Book 2 - Madeline returns to the islands of Northern Serenity to continue her heroics after a four year absence. However tensions in the Western Island rise and Madeline begins to come up short in her investigations - leading to a tarnished view of the young detective within the city. When a young girl by the name of Maeve Colbrun goes missing, Madeline decides to risk it all and face off against the gangs of the West to save her reputation, the city, and Maeve.
Interesting plot isn't it? I really enjoyed writing this one but the draft is more scrambled than the other one. There are lots of plot holes and strange turns but I think the story's potential is there. This plot uses Maxine Rubin as a secondary main character, fighting her own battles while Madeline and her team do their thing.
Lots of this will eventually show up in Heroine Rises, but in a more refined state. If you'd like to remain spoiler free for when I finally get into this plot some 40 years down the line - avoid reading! Otherwise, enjoy!
Harbour: The Heroic Villainess
That's all for now. Until next time!
