What is 'SweetWater'? + Chapter 1 Remaster

November 18 2019

With almost a year of Heroine Rises under my belt, I finally decided to dust off the script to SweetWater - another comic series I had plans for. It's still in the planning stages but just what is SweetWater?

SweetWater : The Story of Darcia

Preview

SweetWater follows the story of Darcia Martinez - a girl who's growned disillusioned with her city life and entry level jobs. Wanting to chase her dreams and start anew - Darcia makes the difficult decision to cut off her connections and move to the rural town of SweetWater - a strange little town with rumors of hauntings, rumor-spreading diners, a large park in desperate need of rangers ... and not much else. Will Darcia's decision to abandon her previous life for the charm of small town living prove worthwhile... or will she have to swallow her pride and return to the city - tail between her legs - and beg those she shunned to help her?

Commentary

Back when I started Heroine Rises, I had a small one shot script all written up that was meant to be about a pair of park rangers facing off against bothersome patrons, weather issues, and each other.

I wanted to push out the SweetWater one shot before starting Heroine Rises so I could get a feel for drawing comics. That obviously didn't happen and SweetWater was left behind as I pushed forward with Heroine Rises. There are about 3 panels of the original story that I managed to complete along with the placeholder cover image (Visible in the cover of the One Shots section).

I've since revisited SweetWater and decided I wanted to bring it to life. I have rewritten the script and have plans for 5 issues. The first issue in in the late planning stages and hopefully I'll have some concept art or early panels to show soon. Once I finish up with the remaster of Heroine Rises Chapter 1 - I want to finish the year by working on this exciting project!

Speaking of Heroine Rises

Heroine Rises: Small-Time Detective Remastered!

I've finished the script and I have a cover page! No really! The Cover Page is finished and colored! I'll share it soon as we get closer to the release!

The Old Chapter 1 will be moved to the One Shots sections once the Remaster is finished so I can look back at my old work and so you can laugh at it if you want.

As for the release date... I don't have a concrete idea of how long this will take me. The chapter isn't that long but I have some more ambitious panels that may take longer than usual. I'm aiming for a end-of-November release but as you probably already know - I'm not good at keeping my deadline promises.

Stay tuned! I'm really excited for the end of the year!
